Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Mobile Tech Media, LLC ("Mobile Tech Media," "we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our marketing website (focusmatrix.app) and our Focus Matrix web app (app.focusmatrix.app) (together, the "Sites"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. This policy does not apply to our iOS and Android apps, which do not use browser cookies (see "The app is local-first" below).
What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to collect information about how a site is used. We also use related browser technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage, which let a website store small amounts of data in your browser. In this policy we use the word "cookies" to refer to cookies and these similar technologies together.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by a service we use, such as our analytics provider). They can also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (which remain until they expire or you delete them).
Essential vs. non-essential cookies
We group the cookies we use into two categories:
- Strictly necessary (essential) cookies. These are required for the Sites to function and for features you ask for — for example, keeping you signed in to the web app, remembering your theme and language preference, securing forms, and load balancing. Because they are essential, they are set without asking for consent. You can still block them in your browser, but parts of the Sites may then stop working.
- Analytics (non-essential). These help us understand how the Sites are used so we can improve the product. They are not required for the Sites to work. On our marketing website we run analytics in a cookieless mode that stores nothing in your browser, so no consent is needed there. In the signed-in web app, we use product analytics to operate and improve the Service; it is not toggled on or off in-app, but you can object by contacting us, as described below.
The cookies and storage we use
Essential (first-party)
On the Focus Matrix web app (app.focusmatrix.app) we use first-party cookies and local storage to keep you signed in (authentication and session cookies set by our authentication and hosting providers) and to remember preferences such as your selected theme and language. On the marketing website, we use a small amount of local storage to remember preferences such as your language. These are essential to providing the Sites and are not used for analytics or advertising.
Analytics — PostHog (non-essential)
We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, configured to store data in its European Union region and served through a first-party path on our own domain.
On our marketing website (focusmatrix.app), PostHog runs in cookieless mode: it does not set any cookies or store any identifier in your browser. Because nothing non-essential is stored on your device there, we do not show — and do not need — a cookie-consent banner on the marketing website.
In the Focus Matrix web app (app.focusmatrix.app), where you are signed in, we use PostHog to understand how the product is used so we can improve it. This analytics is linked to your account and helps us operate and improve the product (our legitimate interest). We do not use analytics for advertising and we do not sell the information it collects. You can object to this processing, or ask us to stop, by contacting us. For more detail on what PostHog collects, see our Privacy Policy.
Your choices
We keep this simple by not setting any non-essential cookies on our marketing website — analytics there is cookieless. In the signed-in web app, product analytics runs on our legitimate interest to operate and improve the Service; it is not toggled on or off in-app. You can:
- Object to product analytics, or ask us to stop processing your data, by emailing [email protected].
- Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Most browsers let you refuse all or some cookies, delete existing cookies, and warn you before a cookie is stored. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the Sites.
- Enable a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser; where we are required to honor such signals, we treat them as a request to opt out of non-essential analytics.
If you delete cookies or use a different browser or device, your preferences (including any opt-out) may be reset, and you may need to set them again.
The app is local-first
Focus Matrix is a local-first product. Your tasks and notes are stored on your device, not in cookies. Our iOS and Android apps do not use browser cookies at all. The Focus Matrix web app uses essential cookies and storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences, plus product analytics used to operate and improve the product. Our marketing website sets no non-essential cookies at all.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in the law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes that affect non-essential cookies will, where required, be accompanied by a renewed request for your consent.
Governing language
This Cookie Policy is written in English, which is the authoritative and governing version. Any translation is provided for your convenience only. If there is any conflict or discrepancy between the English version and a translation, the English version prevails.
